Jeewanthi Sirisena graduated in Civil Engineering at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 2009 and undertook M.Eng. in Water Engineering and Management at the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand in 2014. She earned her PhD in Hydrology and Water Resources at the University of Twente, The Netherlands in 2020. After her bachelor’s degree, she worked as an Irrigation Engineer at Irrigation Department in Sri Lanka. After finishing her master's, she has been working at Lanka Hydraulic Institute as a research engineer and involved in international projects related to hydrology.
In 2022 she joined Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS) as a postdoc researcher. She is working on climate extremes, hydrology, and climate change impacts. She is the author of more than 20 research publications.
